MotherNichols.com is dedicating time to creating books that will help children with learning disabilities feel better about themselves. We hope in the future to be able to illustrate more stories written by children and help boost their self esteem.
If you know of a child with learning disabilities that tells a great story, contact us to see if we can do a book together!
NICK ROCKETS TO SUCCESS WITH "MY TRIP TO FUNNY LAND"!
Our First Book!
My nephew, Nick Gay, wrote and illustrated a short story in First Grade. He was able to overcome his learning challenges to create a story that makes a planet laugh. It goes to show that with patience, understanding, and help any child can soar to new heights in school. I have taken his story and illustrated it into a children's book geared to show kids that it is not scary to deliver a talk in front of the class. It can be fun! Check Nick's book out at our ETSY store. I hope you enjoy his creativity as much as I did.
TIDAL GEMS HIRES MOTHERNICHOLS
We recently created a mini beach sand dune to draw in crowds to Tidal Gems' craft booth. Owner and artist Maureen Wilson creates gorgeous jewelry, bookmarks, ornaments, and more from sea glass she has repurposed from the ocean. We think her work is amazing and are proud to help adorn her booth with a set piece for her shows. Check out Maureen's work on her web site www.tidalgems.com .
SEPAC POSTER
MotherNichols.com is always looking to support children who need a little extra help. We created the banner for the Special Education Parent Advisory Counsil which was shone at each of the EL Public Schools Open Houses this month. This Counsil is looking for adults who want to find ways to boost the education of children with special needs. If you want to care for children with learning disabilities, physical or behavioral issues, then please contact your local schools and join their SEPAC.
Here is a helpful link for learning more about Special Education Parent Advisory Councils:
MassPAC at the Federation for Children with Special Needs is the statewide organization providing information, training, and networking opportunities to Massachusetts special education parent advisory councils (PACs) and the professionals who collaborate with them.
Show your support for SEPAC with our many "Fight for Their Right to be Bright" products at the MotherNichols Store on Zazzle.com.
Hi!
As the mother of a special needs child – my son, James, has autism –
I understand the unique challenges that parents, families and educators
of these exceptional children face daily. Many days run smoothly, but
let’s face it – some days are more of a struggle than others.
In honor of school being back in full swing, which always presents many
changes to our children’s routines, I decided to create a list of some
of the articles I’ve come across in the past few months that shed
light on many of the ways we can support our special needs kids. I’m
passing these resources on to you in the hopes that you’ll share them
with your audience, too.
